Foreign affiliates in Malaysia contributed 17.0 per cent to the Malaysia’s economy by registering a value added of RM241.0 billion in 2020
A total of 2,979 foreign affiliates operating in Malaysia have generated value added at RM241.0 billion in 2020, decreased by 7.0 per cent as compared to RM259.2 billion in the previous year.
Manufacturing remained as the main contributing sector with a value added of RM115.8 billion, followed by Services and Mining & quarrying sectors.
Foreign affiliates in Malaysia employed 859,541 persons with paid compensation of employees at RM48.7 billion.
Both exports and imports by foreign affiliates in Malaysia declined to record RM290.2 billion and RM262.1 billion respectively.
