Malaysia’s International Investment Position (IIP) recorded higher net assets of RM112.6 billion from RM106.4 billion in the last quarter. This was driven by an increase of RM5.9 billion in total financial assets to record RM2,026.0 billion. Meanwhile, total liabilities slightly decreased to RM1,913.3 billion from RM1,913.7 billion in the preceding quarter.
Direct Investment Abroad (DIA) position registered a value of RM537.7 billion. Financial activities remained as the main contributing sector while Singapore, Indonesia and the Cayman Islands were the top destination countries for DIA position.
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) position in Malaysia increased to RM730.3 billion, mostly contributed by Manufacturing sector and Financial activities. As at end of Q2 2021, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan were the top FDI countries.
