Balance of Payments (BOP), Third Quarter 2020

In the third quarter of 2020, Malaysia’s Current Account Balance (CAB) jumps to RM26.1 billion. This was driven by the noteworthy performance in exports of goods which recorded a higher net of RM41.5 billion. The surplus also steered by the secondary income which recorded the first surplus at RM7.1 billion after continuous deficit since 1994. In the meantime, the deficit in services widened to RM13.3 billion due to travel.


Financial account consistently recorded a net outflow of RM35.2 billion (Q2 2020: RM19.8 billion). FDI showed a net outflow of RM0.8 billion after recording continuous inflow since 2010. DIA recorded RM2.2 billion from RM3.5 billion in last quarter.
